Rosary Essay Contest Winners Announced
Students in the 7th and 8th grades at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Andrew Parishes, Milford, Ohio, recently participated in a Rosary Devotion Essay Contest. The subject: Which “mystery” of the Rosary is most meaningful to me and why? The purpose was to draw attention to the traditional Catholic Devotional prayer to Our Lady and was sponsored by the St. Brendan Division of the AOH in Clermont County. Awards to the winners of the contest were made at St. Andrews on March 31, 2010, with the entire student body, many parents and faculty attending. An emerald Irish Rosary was presented to Mark Lacy (1st Place) and an inscribed Celtic Crucifix to Leah Callahan (2nd Place). St Andrew Assistant Administrator Michael Goedde and Hibernian organizer Pat McCracken congratulated all students who participated and indicated that the contest would become an annual event.

The Franklin County, Patrick Pearse, Division 1 Hibernian Golf Classic, was held at the Split Rock Golf Club on June 12th. This year’s Classic was won with a score of ten (-10) under par by the foursome of Chris Gough, Dave Stevens, Billie Stevens and Roney Murphy. This is the second year we were able to utilize Tara Hall, our home, for the awards presentation, door prizes and steak dinner. Thanks to our golfers, hole sponsors and their generous support, our Division fundraiser was able to donate $1,000 to St. Ladislas’s St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. The pantry has seen a large increase in requests and as neighbors of the south side of Columbus, we wanted to help them with their mission. This pantry serves over 300 families a month and they were delighted that the AOH would bless them with funds to help serve the needy.
